With support for Core MIDI, Audiobus output (Audiobus 2 & 3), and MIDI input (Audiobus 3), this instrument provides a versatile range of connectivity options.

The Mellotron, an ingenious keyboard instrument utilizing magnetic tape technology to reproduce recordings, assigns each key to a specific tape segment. By triggering a key, the corresponding pre-recorded note or sound is played back. Upon key release, the tape swiftly rewinds to its initial position.

Originally invented in 1950 by American Harry Chamberlin, this instrument gained popularity among recording artists after its production in the UK as the "Mellotron," derived from "melody-electronics."

Prior to the era of digital samplers, Mellotrons were instrumental in enabling keyboardists to generate authentic instrument sounds such as strings, flutes, rhythm ensembles, and various effects directly from a keyboard.

Although Mellotrons and Chamberlins may not be widely recognized by name, their distinctive sounds have permeated popular music. Notable tracks featuring these iconic instruments include The Beatles' "Strawberry Fields Forever" (flute), The Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin" (3 violins), Oasis' "Wonderwall" (cello), Radiohead's "Exit Music for a Film" (choir), and Lana Del Rey's "Ride" (Chamberlin flute).
